Trail head Events

organizing events that involve our local mountain bike community.

Whether it is our famed dirt demo days, riding clinics, good ol’ fashioned group rides, or giving back to our trails with dig days, we love hosting and sponsoring events that bring our local riding community together. A guaranteed good time and often for a great cause, our events are ones to remember.

Lee McCormack RipRow and Ride clinics

August 16-19th, sign up for an unforgettable day of riding

Lee McCormack has been focusing on developing bike handling techniques, methodology, and mentality for many years, he’s one of the few that thoroughly understands the science behind riding positions, bike geometry, and bike handling. He has published books, taught countless classes, and developed a fitness tool called the RipRow to help riders be stronger on and off the bike. Lee is an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to riding a bike properly.

While his website (LeeLikesBikes.com) and books are full of valuable knowledge, theres nothing quite like being taught these techniques first hand, on your home trails, and through personalized group lessons. For a limited time, Lee is going to be offering classes that take place here at Trail Head Cyclery and then taken out to the Santa Cruz trails. Whether you are an expert rider, or just someone starting out, one lesson with Lee will be a guaranteed eye opener. Lee will teach fundamental bike handling techniques, use the Riprow to explain techniques and measure your rider area distance (rad), share invaluable knowledge, and best of all, get out on the trails to put newly learned techniques to practice. These lessons are the best investment you can make towards making sure you’re ready for anything on the trails, having more fun while riding, and shredding harder than ever before!

Check out the event page, there’s numerous dates to sign up for and more details in the Eventbrite link. Spots usually fill up pretty quickly so book yourself a class as soon as possible!

Girls Rock Ride with Trail head cyclery

unnamed.jpg

A day dedicated to enjoying mountain bikes and good times with fellow female shredders.

This Sunday, we’re returning to Soquel Demonstration Forest for a great ride with Girls Rock Women's Mountain Biking and Trail Head Cyclery. We’ll be kickin’ it old school after the ride with a delicious lunch prepared by Karen of THC, so plan to stick around and tailgate with the crew.  Expect a great raffle giveaway with prizes from our partners Bell Helmets, Camelbak, Fox and of course, the good folk of Trail Head Cyclery.

Riding at Demo: What to expect

  • Unfortunately, Demo isn’t a great introduction for New Riders, so we will resume the New Rider group with our August ride.

  • Long, hot and occasionally steep climbs — Please wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and carry lots of water, energy/electrolyte supplements.

  • Technical Singletrack — We’ll be leading Intermediate and Advanced riders into the singletrack, while Beginner riders will do a double-track out and back.

  • Remoteness — Demo has no toilets or water (sometimes an outhouse). There are no nearby bike shops. If you run into a technical issue on the trails, it can be a long walk out. Come equipped with basics like a spare tube, tire levers, hand pump and multi-tool.  And a cooler with your favorite snacks and beverages for post-ride mingling.

Schedule

9:00 am – Arrival, fuel, mingling, meet your guide

9:30 am – Presentations, announcements

9:45 am – Raffle!

10:00 am – Roll out to the trails

12:00 - 2:00pm – Ride ends, tailgating begins!

NOTE: Please arrange to pick up and return your demo at Trail Head Cyclery. There will be no pick-up/return at the site of the ride.

Location & Parking

We will be meeting at and riding in Soquel Demonstration Forest parking lot on Highland Way. Parking is available in the lot and outside the gates.

Spring 2019 Dirt Demo Days

Our best demo weekend, ever. Nothing but good times & rad bikes.

What a weekend it was. We rode bikes, enjoyed the beautiful weather, snacked on some tacos, and most of all, had loads of fun on some of the coolest bikes in the game right now. A huge thank you to everyone that came out to this spring’s Dirt Demo event! We had a great time out this past weekend and we couldn’t be more stoked with how everything turned out. We hope you had as good of a time as we did! See you at Fall’s demo event!

Trail Head Sponsored Dig Day with MBOSC

Feb 24th, 2019 - Sunday

The dig day at Demo forest with Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz was a huge success! We wanted to thank the entire MBOSC organization for organizing the event and every one of the volunteers that came out and gave the Flow Trail some much needed love. Beautiful weather made for a productive day of fixing drainage, refreshing berms, and adding even more flow to the Flow Trail. With around 90 volunteers coming out to lend a hand, we made significant improvements to the Flow trail and had a good time doing it. After all our hard work, we celebrated with post-dig refreshments, (Thanks Archer Components for the beer) and a sweet product raffle. We're proud to sponsor days like these and give back to our local trails. We also wanted to thank all the others sponsors that helped make this dig day such a memorable one.

We hope to see you at our next dig day!

Fall 2018 Dirt demo

November 2-5, 2018

Our fall dirt demo was a huge success! It was a great gathering of friends and fellow shredders at Santa Teresa County Park. With a mix of perfect weather, plenty of bikes to choose from, some mighty tasty tacos and snacks, and all around good vibes, this demo day was one for the books! A huge thank you to all the brands that came out and an even bigger thank you to all the riders that came out and made the event as memorable as it was. Hit the link below to see the full gallery of photos on facebook and relive the memories. We can’t wait to see you at the next one!

We welcome you to come out to any one of our future events!
